A Natural Connection

Whether hiking, making pictures or gardening, when I am outdoors my life makes sense to me. I’m curious and open to possibilities. I feel free. I value those experiences and it is my hope that sharing them will be encouragement to you and others to find your own kinship with the outdoors.

There is a knowing that happens when we allow ourselves to connect with nature. A sense of belonging that I have yet to find anywhere else. It is different from human connection yet no less valuable.

In the photo above I had actually intended to call it a day, I was cold and tired and desperately in need of a ladies room. When I spotted something odd beyond a small clump of trees, just off the walking trail, I decided to take one more detour. I walked into the small clearing and witnessed this perfect moment when everything seemed to go from gray to white. Nature has a way of revealing itself over and over but still remaining magical and mysterious. When I’m patient and willing to look beyond the surface it can take my breathe away.
