My Photography Journey

Road

Follow along as I set out on my path.

A little over two years ago I drove to city hall and filled out the application for my business name. I was so excited and nervous and…scared. So scared, in fact, that I have stalled out and made very little progress in creating a business for myself. Here’s the thing though, I am not going to beat myself up. Caught up in fear of the unknown I have tried several different approaches, taken a handful of classes, attended a few conferences and logged hundreds of miles of travel to create thousands of photos. What I’m finally realizing is that this is my journey. I’m sure I could have got here any number of ways but this is my particular journey. These are the steps I am taking and I need to own them and be proud of any success and any failure. These are the building blocks I need for my foundation in photography. None of this has been for not. Everything has taught me about my photography and more importantly, about myself.

As the end of this year approaches I am making plans and dreaming big about what I want in 2020. It is my intention to use this blog to share this part of my journey. Not because I think anyone else should follow in my footsteps but because I think it’s important that no matter what your thing is, your journey is going to have twists and turns. I don’t believe there is ever a straight road. If it is, then are you really on YOUR path? Or are you just following someone else’s?
